Our Rating:
Come And Join The Beautiful Army is the latest EP from ex Sneaker Pimp/Front Line Assembly main man Ian Pickering's current project The Noise Who Runs. The ep is the soundtrack to a short film. Ian's partner in the band is Felipe Goes with the EP being mixed and mastered by Colin C.

The Ep opens with knocking on a door at the opening of One Scratch Each that marries space flight techno, squelchy noises and vocals imploring you to Come And Join The Beautiful Army in the search of love, make sure to listen to the sensible voices make sure not to hear the call to war.

Tune Out, Turn Off, Drop In re-works Timothy Leary's tired 60's mantra into a modern message, to block out all the hatred and spite, finding a way to live a mellower more artistic existence, very much in Timothy's spirit but without heaps of LSD, although some might help for watching the film. This is a finely crafted synth pop tune for modern times.

Something In The Bones Of Men has a light keyboard line, with sparse percussion, as they wonder why men can be so damn evil, this feels like a eulogy for the safer more peaceful times we seem to have left behind us currently.

Vengeance Is The Sweetener asks some good questions as to why Vengeance is The Sweetener, should it really be, would we all be better off in a world with less vengeful feelings and actions, over slightly claustrophobic slowly pumping synth pop, that's ready of a little Goalmouth Interlude.

The EP closes with Mars Attached that continues in the close edgy sound, exploring the mess we are currently in, at a time when some over entitled super rich people are still dreaming of living on Mars, rather than using their fortunes to help sort out the real problems here and now on earth.
