Review: 'Otherworldly Things'
'Heavy Dream Cycle'

-  Label: 'Magic door Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '16.2.24.'

Our Rating:
Otherworldly Things are another band involved in the scene that revolves around the Magic Door studios in New Jersey and Heavy Dream Cycle is the bands first proper ep since the pandemic put everyone's lives on hold. The Otherworldly things are Jim Browne, Matt Revie, Jason Binnick and Travis Harrison who recorded this ep at Serious Business Studios.

The Ep opens with I'm Tired Of Monsters a title that sums the current times up nicely as this fuzzy garage rocker makes clear of how they want to hide from the monstrous reality of life in current times, they'd like to be back in saner times.

No Use is the realization that nothing you hear on the news makes any sense whatsoever anymore, the world has gone totally insane and the only thing soothing this lots soul is heavyweight college rock, with the vocals making clear how much they want things to change.

Work Out Right tries to update the Mersey beat sound, feeling sun dappled and hopeful that things may eventually get better, you obviously need good harmonies as well as the right attitude and then hopefully things will improve.

Time Turns To Memories for more quickly than most of us would like, this has a classic power pop/ college rock feel to it.

The Ep closes with Escape a slow acoustic led pained song hoping that a friend in distress will finally accept the help being offered to them, instead of spiralling further into the abyss.
