Review: 'James Clarke Five'
'Ghost'

-  Label: 'Favourite Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '23.2.24.'

Our Rating:
Ghost is the latest single from the James Clarke Five's forthcoming album Zoom & The Gadflies, The five members of the band are all James Hughes, who used to be keyboardist with The Cherry Boys in the 1980's.

The first tune on this ep is Ghost that has a real early 70's chamber pop feel, that is really soulful especially when the keyboard line that has a Fatback band feel impinges on the lush orchestration, while James wonders how he ended up with the ghost of you, as I try to figure out where I know the central tune from.

Gadfly Groove is a more direct steal as the Bolan boogie has layered strings added on top to create the Gadfly Groove, to move the children of the revolution once more, allowing Mac The Sax to add to the ecstasy on the dancefloor this tune should bring.

(Who's Been On) The Big Rock Candy has questions on the lines of you don't drink you don't smoke what do you do, but instead is asking whose on that stuff instead, as Antmusic percussion is used brilliantly as the base for James to sing over, as he looks at how control is always a central issue.
