Bristol's Astral Festival Returns For Sixth Year
01 July 2019

The Astral Festival (previously known as Bristol Psych Fest) is returning again in 2019. Now in its 6th year, the event is growing all the time.

Essentially a day festival it utilises three complimentary venues all within spitting distance of each other in the city centre. SWX is the 'pro' venue, The Lanes is the vibe station and Rough Trade is pretty much a room out the back.

As with last year there will undoubtedly be great bands playing on all the stages. The huge coup for the Al Studer (Stolen Body Records) helmed event is the announcement that this year's headline act will be none other than Thurston Moore playing with Thurston Moore Group.

Also announced are Japanese acid punk noise rockers Bo Ningen, Temples (UK) and Mattiel (USA). Lesser known acts you might like to look out for might be anybody but Earth Tongue from New Zealand come with a good reputation as do Electric Retro Spectrum (France) and also from France Slift who stole The Lanes last year with their buzzy performance. This up and coming festival flies the psych banner loosely to include a really wide range of guitar based music with the overall emphasis being on ensuring a great time is had by all. They haven't failed yet.
