Review: 'GOULA, ROGER'
'Something About Silence EP'

-  Label: 'Cognitive Shift Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '29th July 2016'-  Catalogue No: '004CSR7CD'

Our Rating:
The four modern classical instrumental pieces on this EP are inspired by renaissance music, film soundtracks and minimalist electronica.

Space in very much the place in that they are inspired by the experiences of astronauts and driven by the "desire to explore beyond our understanding".

The 12" primer (also available on CD) is to prepare us for a full length album scheduled for release in November 2016.

Side A features the swirling title track together with a more beat driven remix by Christian Löffler.

Side B has a track entitled Awe plus a remix by Phaeleh.

The aim is to take you on a sonic / cinematic voyage towards the final frontier.

Both atmospheric and serene, the EP succeeds in the sense that it makes me eager to hear more from this London-based composer and the remixers.
