Our Rating:
"I had the means and the words to portray my experience, but why?" muses this singer songwriter from Golden, Colorado on The Turn That Time Had Taken.

It's a hint that songs don't come easily to him and he admits "putting this album together nearly killed me".

Thomas Hine is a folk singer in essence but is not tied to tradition nor much inclined towards confessional lyrics, preferring to present his thoughts and emotional condition in the form of poems or parables.

Many suggest a heightened sensitivity and repugnance towards harsher aspects of the modern world. Monsters, for instance, hints at an inner conflict with uglier characters and a difficulty in confronting them : "Why do have to keep my feelings deep inside?", he asks.

The eleven tracks have an introspective quality yet draw the listener in through the warmth of his voice, strength of the melodies and the simplicity of the acoustic arrangements.
