Review: 'TOO, KATY'
'Nine Lives'

-  Label: 'PedalPoint Records'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '8th August 2016'

Our Rating:
Katy Too, aka Belgian singer-songwriter Leen De Haes, is a good girl gone bad. As a penance she was made to stand in a lake wearing jeans for the album cover shot.

She looks quite nonchalant about this and also sounds relatively unconcerned about the prospect of going to hell for sins recounted in the opening track, No Angel.

In her relationships she seems forever torn between breaking up and making up and you feel these themes would be better presented with a raunchier country rock backing.

Instead, the arrangements have more in common with melodic pop served up with some added gloss provided by a string ensemble and Yves Fernandez on brass instruments.

Though she hints at a rebellious attitude her voice remains disarmingly bright and cheerful. In any event the offer to lose weight or put on her white dress to win back her man on Bad Moves is hardly the action of a radical feminist.

Personally I'd like to hear more about those sins she mentioned!
