Review: 'Ritual King'
'Elixir (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '2nd December 2016'

Our Rating:
Turns out there is merit in the adage that you should never judge a book by its cover. The artwork which houses Ritual King’s ‘Elixir EP’ has stoner rock all over it, but it turns out the power trio trade in heavy blues. And yes, it’s heavy blues, with everything cranked up loud as they throw down some hefty, driving, boogie-based riffs, but there’s ample melody in there, too. ‘Devil’s Chokehold’ is fast, choppy and boasts strong harmonies and an epic guitar solo.

They’re big on guitar solos, as it happens, Jordan Leppit coming on all Slash on ‘ISD’. They love their twiddly bits and bass runs, too but the songs are all focused in structure and solid in sound.
