Power Trip’s second album promises ‘hooks and tightness rivalling the likes of Metallica, Pantera or Pentagram.’ And it’s fair to say that ‘Nightmare Logic’ is indeed true to the spirit of old-school classic thrash. Tempestuous, full-throttle riffage, powerhouse percussion and snarling, raw-throated vocals dominate the sound. And while Metallica have long since strayed from their roots, Power Trip show no signs of venturing into sifter, more commercial territory.
In their brutal assaults on all things right-wing, capitalist and motivated by greed, Power Trip are unflinching in their ferocity. The album’s eight tracks – the longest of which is just over five minutes, with the majority in the four-minute region – are fast and furious, dirty great slabs of pure thrash force.
