Review: 'High Sunn'
'Hopeless Romantic EP'

-  Label: 'PNKSLM Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '19th May 2017'

Our Rating:
High Sunn is the project of 17-year-old Justin Cheromiah from San Francisco. Since he started out making music in his bedroom back in 2014, he’s amassed a vast catalogue of releases, with no less than 30 singles, EPs and full albums to his credit. The ‘Hopeless Romantic EP’ represent Cheromiah’s first studio recordings, and the six tracks demonstrate a real knack for classic jangly guitar-led US indie songs.

There’s still a homely, lo-fi vibe to these recordings, and it’s very much part of the charm. The lyrics are bittersweet, the melodies easy-going, simple and catchy. From the Curesque chimes of ‘Polaroids’ to the urgent punk-pop of closer ‘Good Evening’, Cheromiah also shows range. And for someone so insanely prolific, it seems he’s got a strong handle on the quality control, too.
