The EP’s title is pretty much the definition of rock cliché, so it’s a relief that the music is altogether less stale and obvious. Although they reference Every Time I Die, Buckcherry, Queens of the Stone Age and Rage Against the Machine, but equally, Saint Apache’s brand of raucous, shouty alternative rock invited comparisons to Hawk Eyes and Pulled Apart by Horses.
The guitars are gritty and driving, but it’s the thick, attacking bass that really dominates the sound. It’s less about the choruses than the riffs, and there are some grippingly insistent riffs across the EP’s four tracks. It’s all delivered with a spitting vitriol that makes for an exhilarating blast of rock action.
