Review: 'Dayshifter'
'Hopeful//Regretful (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Heavy Metal' -  Release Date: '28th July 2017'

Our Rating:
British melodic hardcore mob Dayshifter are pitched as being for fans of Architects, While She Sleeps, and Misery Signals. They’ve certainly got no shortage of firepower, with sinewy, fractal guitars interlacing their way through a backdrop of dense, murky bass and rhythm guitar. ‘Of Ghosts’ doesn’t place so much emphasis on the melodic aspect, and instead comes on full-throttle with screaming rage.

You wouldn’t expect a song called ‘In Despair’ to be a barrel of laughs, and sure enough, it’s a snarling blast of nihilistic fury. Only the 1:38 ‘Interlude’, with its gently rippling, clean sounds, offers any respite from the aural onslaught. It means that when the title track (which also boasts the strongest hook) follows to close the EP, it hits with even greater impact.
