Review: 'Scout Killers'
'Deception (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '7th July 2017'

Our Rating:
Today’s band to emerge from the cliché band name generator is Scout Killers, who’ve played alongside Fearless Vampire Killers, The Computers and a bunch of other bands we’re supposed to have heard of and be impressed by. The four tracks are solid enough stabs are accessible US alt-rock, with the influence of various touchstones including Pearl Jam, Alter Bridge and Red Hot Chilli Peppers all plainly in evidence.

It’s well-played and well-produced, but something feels somehow lacking. Perhaps it’s in the way that the songs feel – and sound – derivative in every way, and the fact every aspect of the band’s sound is so completely ‘American’ (they’re from the south-west of England) means there’s no real sense of Scout Killers having any identity of their own.
