Review: 'Niterooms'
'Niterooms EP'

-  Genre: 'Hip-Hop' -  Release Date: '20th November 2017'

Our Rating:
lines between electronica, grime, r‘n’b, hip hop, ambient and alternative music, imbuing their personal songwriting with a boundary-pushing, intriguing sound that shifts contemporary music into different places.’ So says the press release.

They definitely like their echo and vocal processing. They like their nagging repetitious motifs and soft-edged synths. And while I hate sitting on fences – oh, the splinters! – I can’t decide if this is any cop or not.

There are some shockingly bad rhymes in the lyrics, and in places, the hybridisation feels spectacularly clunky. But then, there are some enticing atmospherics which prove quite compelling.

‘Niterooms’ is the sound of a band exploring their identity. As a debut, it hints at an act with the potential to create their own niche.
