Our Rating:
QFT stands for Quantum Field Theory to flag up big-lunged metal singer Linnéa Vikström's fascination with big bangs, black holes and all things space related.

Apparently, this interest all began after she chanced upon a You Tube video about quantum physics. The initial plan was to release a solo EP based on scientific articles and themes about the universe and the project grew into a whole album.

Vikström is a touring member of the Swedish "symphonic metal band, Therion so knows a thing or two about epic, operatic style pomp rock.

“The album is a mash-up of all the influences and inspirations I’ve came across during my life", she says. "I listened a lot to Black Sabbath, one track is inspired by Van Halen. You can even find some Spice Girls there if you just look close enough”.

Suffice to say that universal silliness abounds on a grand scale through the 46 minute journey into the final frontier which begins with the End Of The Universe and ends somewhat incongruously with a relatively restrained cover of Björk's Jóga.

Along the way there are encounters with Aliens and screams of "annihilate, obliterate" in Black Hole.

What could stand as an effective spoof of the bombastic genre is even more hilarious for being played in deadly earnest. This is one for Spinal Tap fans everywhere.
