Review: 'EGO RITUAL, THE'
'The Ego Ritual (EP)'

-  Label: 'Kool Kat Musik'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '18th January 2019'

Our Rating:
This trio from Lincoln in the UK make no bones about playing 'Psychedelic Alternative Rock' and do so pretty well.

James S.(vox), William James Ward (guitar) and Gaz Wilde (drums) combine to make a passable imitation of West Coast angst combined with some scuzzy home-brewed heavy metal.

The four songs (plus a 3 minute hidden track) lead off with Chakra Maraca, a title that combines the notion of yogic wheels of energy with a Caribbean rumba shaker. The idea is not to draw a logical meaning from the words but simply to be cool with the implied notion of a mind-body trip.

The other three songs are called Ten Points For The Red Star, Serenade The Ley Line and Days Of Set and invite listeners in the know to follow the same twisted logic.

As Julian Cope once sagely sang, (quoting Funkadelic):"Free your mind and your ass will follow".
