Western Edges is the latest alias of Leeds-based Richard Adams, founder member, with brother Chris, of Hood.
Adams has also recorded alone or with friends under the name The Declining Winter and contributed to various other projects.
This solo recording comes recommended for fans of beatless blissful ambience or "shimmering electronics". Many releases make such claims but this one keeps its promises.
At seven minutes, the longest track is the swirling Absence but the other seven pieces are short and packed with the kind of atmosphere that would serve as an effective soundtrack to a tense drama.
