Another one of those ‘how did they get my email address?’ submissions, the second single by the somewhat enigmatic Studio Electrophonique, which is the project of James Leesley, who appears to be from Sheffield, is released on a label that sounds exotic and does have Paris connections, but also has roots in Liverpool and Manchester.
‘I Don’t Think I Love You Anymore’ is a quintessentially English indie tune that espouses a hazy, lo-fi old-school feel. It’s simple, unpretentious, and honest both emotionally and in its charming lack of sophistication. That’s not a criticism, but a comment on how this single harks back to a bygone era of vintage indie. It seeps nostalgia, and does it so eloquently it’s hard to fault.
