Review: 'MISTY COAST'
'When I Fall From The Sky'

-  Label: 'Fysisk Format'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '16th April 2021'-  Catalogue No: 'FY148LP'

Our Rating:
Richard Myklebust and Linn Frøkedal are a male-female shoegaze duo from Norway who call their latest record "a survival guide for the anxieties of today's society". Though no cure-all, the gentle melodies of their psych-pop offer some soothing balm for uneasy thoughts.

Recorded in Oslo, the tunes are inspired by dreams of falling and, given that there is no hint of harshness, you can only imagine that the landing will be as soft as fluffy clouds.

The ten songs are sung in English with all but Sugar Pill having Frøkedal on lead vocals.

The couple were previously part of a 'Noise-pop' band, 'The MegaphonicThrift', who, from what little I've heard, sound equally mild-mannered even though NME once described as "face-meltingly intense".

This is not a description that is ever likely to be applied to Misty Coast - heart crushingly immense and a little bit twee would be closer to the mark.
