Review: 'Moon'
'Shine'

-  Label: 'I-Tunes/Deezer'
-  Genre: 'Blues' -  Release Date: '21.5.21.'

Our Rating:
Shine is the new mini-album from Moon who are a duo of Chelsea Dawn and Dan Silver who have written produced and performed everything themselves on this record. They are based in Southern California.

The album opens with the Gospel style field holler country blues of Shine that updates the format for now with some really interesting drumming, towering guitar and Chelsea Dawn's full-throated vocals belting out the question of asking you what makes you Shine.

Never Cross Me is western blues rock similar to Brigitte DeMeyer or Sass Jordan with a sweeping cinematic feel to the music with a cool and interesting bass led breakdown that then threatens to get properly over wrought as you learn that what ever you do Never Cross Her.

Sweetest Magic is more soulful blues of love and desire that keeps the gospel feel to the vocals even if the lyrical content isn't gospel as this whisper's sweet nothings into your ears as the song swells and builds, I'm also reminded of Shara Nelson a singer I haven't thought about in ages.

Down By The Water is slow percussion led new blues with neo Spanish guitar and hand claps for a song of the redemptive qualities of going Down By The Water this could soundtrack a full on preacher man style baptism in the Sea.

My Oh My (I'll Take You Home) closes the mini-album with a slow careful offer of help and redemption for a friend in trouble and need, and we all need a helping hand every now and then as the strings sweep in and the guitars emphasize the pain the friend is in so give in and let Moon take care of you.
