Our Rating:
Sonny Vincent's latest album is the first one for a while that's not a specific fundraiser, to help his family recover from the dreadful Gas Explosion accident they were involved in back in 2016, but of course the lyrics speak to the fight they have had on there hands, as they battled through the operations and treatment needed to recover. As well as more normal rock and roll concerns. This review CD arrived just before I was going to buy a copy, as helping Sonny fight for his family in the last couple of years has been accompanied by several releases of fantastic music including the monumental fundraising Tribute To Sonny Vincent triple album.

The opening of this album is a raging intro into Stick, that feels like they are about to mug you in an alley and steal your shoes, as the stooges meets the UK Subs guitar attack Stick's it to you, as Sonny tells us he'll Stick around with you baby, and if you've followed his family trauma of the last few years you know he means every last word he sings.

Messed Up In Blue is bruised pop punk blast for the Messed Up and dressed up to get on through and know eventually that brighter day is coming, so just keep on fighting to make things better.

The End Of Light is like you've woken up from a coma into a new nightmare you never imagined could become your life, your lost and have no idea how to move on, but somehow you find a way to overcome everything and those raging guitars will heal your soul and mind while you'll need every sinew of energy you have for the physical recovery.

The Rain Is Black Again is a bruised and pained anthem for a way out of all the darkness and pain with some cool backing vocals and an almost power ballad feel to it.

Can't Absorb is about to understand just how you've ended up where you are and trying to absorb what's happened and how on earth you're going to move on and recover and get your life back together again, not seeking oblivion but seeking peace and good health instead.

Never Tired has a blazing guitar intro into an urgent song that feels like they are all jacked up on speed and unlikely to sleep this week.

Higher Than Charlie sounds like they've just snorted several grams of Charlie and are going insane on guitar and drums this zips along like your totally fried and just have to keep on going.

Get Out go on get the hell out of his life now and he will make sure you feel unwelcome as those guitars fry your brain. Whip Tree is a whip smart cracker of a speedy punk song to whip you into shape as Sonny looks for someone he can trust.

Japan MOFO is another speedy frayed at the edges primal blast to go wild too, as those guitars zip on by and stutter and shake it on down. Radiation Day is a powerful song for those in need of radiation treatment while feeling like you might die in the process while this chugs along and Sonny screams and yelps.

Ruby Diamond is a rough and ready garage rocker that doesn't let up as it whips through your brain like a high speed train.

Not Alone is an anthem for knowing that when the chips are down you will really find out that everyone will rally round and help you and come together to make things better as you realize you really are Not Alone in this.

Another Land is nicely bruised and slightly slower than Sonny's usual frenetic pace, so that when the guitar solo comes in it just soars that bit more.

The album closes with Forest the only song on the album longer than three minutes as Sonny tells us he wants to give us all of his dreams and love and this has the feel of a late 60's garage rock nuggets style song slowed down to an almost ballad pace, it's a cool ending to a really great album.
