Our Rating:
The Kundalini Genie are a drug rock band from Glasgow, and this is the bands latest album and the first album to contain more than 7 songs. For maximum psychedelic effect the album has been mastered by Mark Gardener of Ride.

The album doesn't hold back when it opens with a song called Motherfucker, with vocals drenched in reverb, a Velvets style tambourine, an opiated slow evocation as to just why they are indeed a Motherfucker, as the guitars start to go off in support of the singers argument.

Stupid Girl thankfully has nothing to do with Garbage but is instead a slow narcoleptic psych freak out of distain for said girl. So Far Away is far slower making this sound like a male fronted Mazzy Star who want to evoke the darkest pain they feel as they drown in all the reverb.

Honey makes me think of several other songs called Honey and in line with Spacemen 3's one it sounds like they consumed a boat load of drugs and then tried to get all loved up, this was the result and it has a great swagger to it, as they stagger across the room, as the guitars wail and they think they can see there Honey opposite.

When She Smiles has sun dappled guitars and drawled vocals that are sort of at the slow end of Peter Perrett's singing style as Robbie Wilson makes sure his vocals can just about be heard above the zoned out backing as he looks across to see her smiling back at him and all he wants to know is does she know who Galaxie 500 or Sacred Miracle Cave are and if not can he educate her.

The single Half In, Half Out is next that sets a blistering guitar against the slow bass and harmony backing vocals set to fry your mind as you try to figure out exactly what is Half In and what's Half Out as it builds towards a Spacemen 3 style freakout.

Turning Away re-works some Link Wray licks and evolves it into a dark and decidedly early Dandy Warhols style fast driving rave up of a tune.

It Didn't Mean That Much To Mean That Much To You is a song that lives up to its rather brilliant title, with the least treated vocal on the album as the bitter end of a relationship is brought into bitter focus with some laid back psychedelic rock.

All Your Love (Shines On) and as long as your stoned enough and still coherent then you'll be the one for me, as this reminds me of Sunray back when they insisted on recording in Mono for added authenticity, this is stereo and a fine slow stoned love song.

The album closes with Outro that isn't just a wall of wailing expiring guitars and sitars but instead is a slow almost raga like song to comedown easy too.
