Review: 'Spunt,Dean and John Wiese'
'The Echoing Shell'

-  Label: 'Drag City Records'
-  Genre: 'Industrial' -  Release Date: '20.5.22.'-  Catalogue No: 'DC849'

Our Rating:
The Echoing Shell is the first album by Dean Spunt and John Weise two American noiseniks, who have made this album that's best described as being "A load of old noise". It's noise of the non-rhythmic, non-melodic variety and the only way I could conceive of reviewing how this album makes me feel is as a poem. The album has two 14 minute "tunes" whose titles are mentioned at the start of each stanza. Dean Spunt is best known for his work in No Age and John Wiese is best know for his work in Sissy Spacek (The band).

The Echoing Shell
Fruit From Color Vapor eruptions distortions wobbles distractions,
Snared wobbling underwater eruptions discordant mutations,
Deviant deviations distress disarmingly doctored depressions,
Tonality tripping tertiary tongs teased tinnitus,
Symbolic cymbals crazed crashing cacophony,>
Brazen abrasions briefly buttress bulwarks,
Eviscerated emblems evoke echoing entropy, <

Black Fruit splatters spewing sputum sporadically,
Berries bolders brutally banging bombcraters,
Shattered sounds synapses screaming sulphurous scorchings,
Tyres trapped totality tympanic tissues targeted,
Space war annihilation smithereen redaction caustic,
Wailing walls wither whacked wastrels weeping,
Sophistry sine syntax suppurating specks.
