Review: 'BROS. LANDRETH, THE'
'Come Morning'

-  Label: 'Birthday Cake Records'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '13th May 2022'

Our Rating:
This Canadian duo have been acclaimed in their native land but have not yet met with the same level of enthusiasm elsewhere. This record is unlikely to change this state of affairs.

Brothers Joey and Dave make perfectly nice melody-driven pop songs that focus on silver linings rather than dark clouds. This is encapsulated inAfter The Rain. "The overarching theme here is hope," says Joey.

You Don’t Know Me is a passionless and passive lament and makes you wonder where all the rage or hurt went after the end of a love affair.

Don’t Feel Like Crying, featuring guest vocals from Leith Ross, is the album’s standout track but again is centred on holding back feelings rather than letting painful emotions out.

With smooth vocals, layers of atmospheric synth and textured guitar, the sound is warm and mellow but also a little dull.

In the soulful Stay, the singer reflects that there is ”no use in complaining” but some ill-tempered moaning wouldn’t hurt and might have raised the tepid temperature a little.
