Review: 'Meat Sweaters, The'
'Paranoid & Sweaty'

-  Label: 'Hype Music/Extreme Music'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '22.7.22.'

Our Rating:
The Meat Sweaters are a new band from Brighton, Stockholm and London who make mad Synth Punk music like a modernized Devo.

The Ep opens with Body Yoghurt a fast frantic synth punk song that details exactly where they want to lick that yoghurt from, it has very Devoesque vocals and sort of re-works Whip It but goes all distorted and mad to make sure everyone goes totally mad on the dancefloor.

Got Me Into It sounds like the sort of song Fred Schneider writes, the synths wobble in and out of the tune against frantic and at times strange drumming, this is oddly effective and a bit of a head scratcher as you wonder exactly what they've got into now and is it catching or not.

I Got The Shakes is as much about the after effects of too much meat, as too much drink, they are hot, sweaty, twitching and probably have some drool running out the sides of their mouths, as they try to hold it together, this is the sort of hangover tune that will only make your headache worse, as everyone else tries to make you feel even worse than you already do, a great single.

I'm A Success is upbeat synth punk affirmation to the fact that the singer is a success, but nobody knows it. Not sure what he's succeeded at other than making a particularly singular and very cool ep, but that's more than enough for now. I hope the bands live shows are as bonkers as this EP is.
