Our Rating:
Neimandsland is the Sixth album in Pyrolator's land series, the first one being Inland that came out in 1979, like that album, this one was recorded using modular Synths played live without the ability to do multiple takes. Pyrolator is one of several bands that Kurt Dahlke is or has been a member of, as well as DAF, Der Plan and Fehlfarben and running the Ata Tak label. I may now take a few liberties and consider this a concept album about shopping in Neiman Marcus in the States.

Then opening track is Djehuti that may be named after an Egyptian king but sounds like it's the background music in the shirt department at Neiman Marcus, this is minimal techno with synth flashes.

Die Pause feels like we have moved into the gents' trousers department and this is music to try on some Farah slacks too, very inoffensive modular space age synths gently encouraging the commerce your involved in, no matter how the intent may be the opposite of that.

Acai takes us to the juice bar so we can relax and decide what to put in our Acai berry smoothie, probably some Tumeric and Ginger and a dash of Matcha green tea as this goes a little bit spectral.

Honeywood keeps us in the cafe as the music gets a bit squelchy and siren like, this has more of a disturbed sci-fi feel to it.

Das Danach sees things move into the bedroom department as the music becomes more seductive and almost classically based. Yukatan is music to choose rugs too in the carpet department this has a hazy edge to it.

Yellow Springs is music to buy overpriced mineral water too, the sort that comes in fancy bottles with all sorts of weird claims, about what that Yellow Spring water that smells a touch sulphurous, will do for you and judging by the music you'll feel very relaxed after just one bottle.

Der Raum is set in a rather acid drenched Wallpaper department as you try to decide how bright you want your room to be as the rather clubby techno beat makes you shuffle around as if you must want to bust a few moves rather than be here shopping.

Ein Perfekter Abend takes us into the lighting department as we select the perfect lighting for a soiree, this builds towards a rather glorious peak or two as if everything is just so.

Borzer takes us into the shelving department, this is the perfect tune to assemble flat pack shelving units too, with the cymbal work soundtracking using the allen keys quite delicately.

Onna Bugeisha is set in the poster department as you slowly look through a tasteful selection of prints of Japanese female samurais and work out which one will look best with the Bonsai trees you've been thinking of buying, as the repeating motif feels like the swish of the Naginata as they move into attack.
