Review: 'KELTRIX'
'The Head (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Folk'

Our Rating:
Keltrix is a band of many genres, ranging from the mellow waters of acoustic folk to the more energetic seas of old-school style rock and roll; their EP The Head is one that dives into both those genres and all in between.

Head, the first song on the EP throws you in at the deep end. It gives you an immediate feel for the band; the beat begs for you to tap your foot and the chorus is catchy in all the right ways. You’re then led into Dick, track two on this folk rock rollercoaster. The introduction in no way prepares you for what the chorus holds, and that's no bad thing. There's a fiercer feel to this song, in both the lyrics and the music itself and the chorus is reminiscent of those of traditional folk songs- punchy vocals and violins at the ready.

You then completely calms the mood after the first two more energetic songs; the gentle beats and string work make this song the mellowest four minutes of the EP. You're then thrown into Spank the Daemon, we're back to the folk vibe, this is the kind of song you can picture yourself hearing live. It's got real energy. Last but not least, you're thrown into the psychedelic mist that is The Rhythm (Decibelle Remix) (feat. Decibelle)-a mix of electronic, folk and a hint of funk; an odd combination, but one that somehow works.
