Rolling bass and screaming guitars are Go!
For the uninitiated there is some extremely old school metal in amongst the clunking slap bass, frantic fret work and rawk vocals that make up SIKTH's 'Scent of the Obscene' (hardly suprising considering the choice of B-side is a cover of Iron Maiden's 'Wrathchild').
Sikth boast a rhythm section which includes the entire band, they are claustrophobically tight with the kind of nu-prog futurist approach to a song which might jar for those happier with the standard Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Solo, Chorus Chorus (and if you're in Westlife - don't forget the uplifting key-change) structure. 'Scent of the Obscene' is, nevertheless, a Choon.

The closest comparison I could make is somewhere between a less orchestral Dream Theatre and Californian fun boys Mr Bungle on really hideous drugs - and that's without counting the eerie secret track hidden between "Wrathchild" and the "Scent of the Obscene" video. Frankly this has to be heard to be fully
appreciated. Buy now, or at least get thee to a listening post.
