Our Rating:
The moment I saw this CD I wanted to hear it as the cover just looked good. LEAH JEE is good-looking and the shot makes her out like a cross between Annabella Lwin and Lita Ford circa Kiss Me Deadly. It's obvious that she has a big record company behind her as this 6 track EP comes with a digibook for me to look through as part of the press release. Nice.

So is she worth the hype? Well she crafts some good modern rock with catchy as hell lyrics. The opener Coming After You proves and she has a good strong voice that doesn't sound like it's been treated at all which can only be a good thing to these ears. I could easily see a big crowd singing along to the chorus it has a nicely anthemic feel to it.

Sink Or Swim is a little quieter but has some great spiralling guitars that almost pirouette into the breakdown like you're falling off a precipice into who knows what. The Start Of Your Life has a good breathy opening before she explains just why you should piss off and get the hell out of her life.

The Final Score isn't her singing the football results sadly but a fast angry rock tune that has some good guitars and the sort of production that polishes almost all the edge off the music as if it's being blunted for maximum airplay. The Golden Ticket has more or less passed me by every time I've heard it.

The EP closes with Straight Up, during which Leah asks us over and over "Do You Love me?" Well, if I was still under 30, the answer would be a definite Yes. As it stands I'd say I think you've a good chance of winning me over if you can take a little bit of the polish off the production and dirty it up a bit more this needs to be a bit sleazier. Oh and yes it is the Paula Abdul song Straight Up, but don't let that put you off hearing it.
