Our Rating:
Let’s get to the point here. This is nasty. A real monster, a brute of a record.

Downtuned, doomy, sludgy, heavy and as black as the pits of hell, ‘Humandemic’ sets the bar and it’s positively subterranean. The vocals aren’t so much snarled and mangled as the sound of vocal chords being incinerated. ‘Jundland Wastes’ slows to a crawl, the sonic equivalent of a flesh-melting larva flow. Samples echo around ‘Thoth’ before the skull-crushing power chords descend, grinding mercilessly for an agonising nine minutes. Music doesn’t get much heavier or more punishing than this.

Only then there are the two tracks from Coffins. The snarling bass and squall of feedback that is the devastating ‘Drown in Revelation’ hurls us headlong into positively apocalyptic territory, the bowel-shaking vocals growling demonically against a violent guitar backdrop. ‘The Wretched Path’ actually has a riff you could mosh to. Bizarrely, it sounds like a Status Quo riff, that’s been brutally smashed and then left bleeding in a radioactive cesspit, before becoming reanimated and wreaking a devastating path of carnage.

Brutal and then some.
