This is a joke, right? No? Really? It’s a pity, because Katsuo’s pseudo-anime imagery and genre-mashing musical mess could at least find some contextual basis for existing if presented as a parodic Nathan Barley type postmodern pastiche. But no, it seems this bozo’s actually serious, and expects to be taken seriously. How anyone could dig this, I have no idea: it’s not even possible to like it ‘ironically’.
Let’s unpack this a bit. Yeah, yeah, I know, I’m supposed to at least be witty if I can’t be constructive or objective in my criticisms, but let’s look at the facts. Katsuo’s wide-ranging influences include Fall Out Boy, 30 Seconds to Mars, Skrillex and Prince, and his sound merges electro, dubstep and rock – ‘rockstep’ if you will. A procession of collaborators grace this five-tracker, which is, unsuprisingly, fucking awful.

The various styles aren’t seamlessly melded together, but spliced in segments that don’t sit all together, like flicking through radio or TV channels. Bouncy happy hardcore and smurf vocals aren’t even the worst of it, and I’ll not even start on the lyrics. And he looks like a bell-end, to boot.
