Gritty rhythm guitars and niggling, nagging lead guitar duel over chubby basslines and hard-hitting drums while shouter Patrick Stenbourg hollers himself hoarse from the pit of his lungs. In a nutshell, that’s the sound of Swedish metallers A Silent Escape. ‘Gone’ kicks the album off to a powerful start, energy, tempo and anger all cranked up to 11. It’s immediately followed by ‘Frozen Blood,’ which comes in hard, with energy, tempo and anger all cranked up to 11. Without pausing for a second to take the foot off the gas, ‘Black Heart’ slams in with energy, tempo and anger all cranked up to 11 before ‘When the Last Song’ blasts the listener… you know where this is going. Individually, the songs are ok, but they all sound exactly the same.
