Review: 'Strike'
'Wood, Wire & Sparks'

-  Album: 'Wood, Wire & Sparks' -  Label: 'Monotype Records'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Catalogue No: 'MonoLP014'

Our Rating:
Strings flicker, flutter, squeak and scrape while percussive clatterings sporadically skip through in the background. Assonance slides into dissonance, rhythm into arrhythmia, tranquillity into tension as the trio of musicians who comprise Strike mould and manipulate the sounds intuitively and with dexterity.

The six improvised pieces that make up ‘Wood, Wire & Sparks’ – with the title track occupying the whole of side A – are subtle yet dynamic in their arrangements. Less is definitely more here.
