'Are You thinking of Me Every Minute of Every Day?'

-  Album: 'Are You thinking of Me Every Minute of Every Day?' -  Label: 'Tapete Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '27th January 2014'

Our Rating:
Lacrosse just sounds like the name of a Swedish indie pop band, and indeed, that’s just what it is. The cumbersomely-titled ‘Are You thinking of Me Every Minute of Every Day?’ is their third album since their formation in 2005, and follows ‘This New Year Will Be For You and Me’ and 2009’s ‘Bandages for the Heart’ into their catalogue.

It’s everything you’d expect: bouncy, melodic ditties laced with lovely male / female harmonies, and delicately jangling tunes distilled into 3-minute parcels of joy. But there’s so much more to ‘Are You Thinking of Me’ than mere froth. ‘50% of Your Love’ is a pokey and energetic slice of post-punk disco, and far from suffering from mid-album go slow, ‘If Summer Ends’ is a glorious surge of euphoria.

Lacrosse have clearly spent a lot of the four years it’s taken to create the album putting a great deal of time and thought into incporporating different sounds and styles, with some suprisingly scuzzy, fuzzy guitar and basslines, not to mention some crunchy beats that lend the songs texture and variety, but without ever losing sight of the poppiness.
