Review: 'Mirt'
'Rite of Passage'

-  Album: 'Rite of Passage' -  Label: 'Catsun Monotype'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Catalogue No: 'cat15'

Our Rating:
The Miami Vice influence on this album isn’t exactly easy to discern, beyond the title at least (and even that’s obscure: it’s lifted from the title of an episode of the series). In fact, at times, there’s very little of anything to discern during protracted passages of barely audible ambience.

Chunks of dialogue ripped from Zombie Movies, bubbling analogue synths and spaced-out weirdness drip and drift in and out of the scenes. Microfrequencies, flickers of sound an minute sonic details scratch and scrape at the senses, buffeting against low-key rumbles and tapering drones. Minimalist, shadowy and detached, it’s a long way from the stylised action of any 80s US TV show.
