There's a lot to be said for a track that starts slowly and has the patience to build into a sound over the course of a long, drawn out, inexorable crescendo over it's running time. There's also plenty to be said for smashing straight in with the momentum of a train. And this latest tune from Resonance does just that.
From the very first strum, the stage is set for an indie-funk tune that really benefits from a high energy performance on the part of the band. There are some sleek little funk lines in here that really move things along nicely.
Over the top of that comes a melody that, arguably, is a little pedestrian, and a vocal that doesn't seem to push itself too much. Still it's pleasant enough - it just struggles to live up to the funky energy of what's going on underneath.
