Review: 'HONEYBLOOD'
'Honeyblood'

-  Label: 'Fat Cat Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '19th May 2014'

Our Rating:
Singer/guitarist Stina Tweeddale and Shona McVicker on drums are a self proclaimed pair of "noisy girls" from Glasgow,

They were picked up by the esteemed Fat Cat Records on the strength of a home-made two-track cassette ('Thrift Shop') and a sassy attitude. Since then they have played SXSW and, for their debut album, have tailored a direct, no-frills style to perfection.

They sound more American than Scottish, which is how they manage so effectively to gatecrash the US dominated surf punk genre - a determinedly breezy lo-fi style which blends The Ronettes and The Ramones.

The album is full of short and snappy tunes with hooks a plenty. Killer Bangs is the first single but any track would do just as well. It was recorded with Peter Katis (The National, Interpol) at his home Tarquin Studios in Connecticut.

Tweeddale says "These songs represent good times for us.". and any band that rhymes 'allure' with 'sewer' (Super Rat) is okay by me.
