Review: 'Reliq'
'Metatropics'

-  Album: 'Metatropics' -  Label: 'Noble Label'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '18th April 2014'

Our Rating:
Reliq – alter-ego of Serph – is back with a new album after two and a half years and the resultant product is truly dizzying. From kaleidoscopic space-age electro vibes to crazed inter-genre mash-ups, ‘Metatropics’ is nothing if not varied, or imaginative for that matter. Analogue bass and glittery flickers cascade in energised particle waves, supple beats bounce amidst cut-ups, juddering splice-ins and granular analogue noise with bursts of frenetic synth percussion.

A woozy bass bobs around a loose groove on ‘Girlee’, while ‘Macafu’ juxtaposes a classical / flamenco guitar motif and brief snippets of strings against bubbles and pops and stuttering beats. Disorientating? Just a bit!
