Who is this clever sod who thinks he’s funny? Some guy named Ben Fuller, apparently. ‘Tempus Fugit already’ is the follow-up to 2011’s ‘Carpe Diem, baby’ and already it’s sounding like a bad parody, and sadly the music’s no better.
I mean, Christ. Smart-arse pop with elements of breezy indie rock and, er, ELO dominate the 14 tracks here. Actually, for the most part it sounds like a bad parody of a rock-oriented pop effort. The flat vocal delivery doesn’t help. On ‘Sunshine’ big chief Shifting Buffalo narrates the passing of the seasons in a most pedestrian fashion (probably educational for under fives, and the same is likely true of ‘If I Were a Massless Photon’). ‘Gorgeous but Clingy’ is as pointless as it is mercifully brief.
‘Wake!’ would be a decent blast of tension were it not for the endless soloing over the top of everything: it’s awfully distracting. Less is more. Like maybe trimming this to an EP.

‘The Metro Shuffle’ is another stab at social observation, a song about shuffling iPod tracks and the death social interaction. The sentiment’s there, it’s just a pity the lyrics are so awkward and lacking in sophistication,. And the ridiculous, FX soaked guitar solos! ‘Daddy’s Girl’ starts outs like a sludge metal cover of Easy Lover’ before going down the path of lousy cack.
Really, enough already. A stinking, steaming pile of Buffalo shift indeed.
