The adage goes that you should never judge a book by its cover. This, however, is often wrong. The same is true of albums. Especially when it comes to metal acts. Designers of metal album covers know what they’re doing: you look at the cover, check the title and you know what you’re going to get. That’s a good thing. You wouldn’t want to pick up an album with pentagrams, crucifixes and bleeding goats all over the cover only to find it sounded like One Direction or The Script, would you?
Swedish metal five-piece Lancer are all about the metal. It was their collective love of all things metal that brought them together at the Music Academy of Ingesund in Arvika, Sweden, and that has defined their sound across an EP and an eponymous debut album. Album number two, ‘Second Storm’ is housed in an Iron Maiden-esque sleeve that corresponds with both the band’s image and the material.

Which essentially means my work is done. If you dig the artwork, you’ll dig the album.
