Review: 'Zurich'
'Small Wars (EP)'

-  Label: 'Kestrel Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '21st September 2015'

Our Rating:
If the band’s name and EP’s title suggest something that’s steely, sombre and mines the same seam of Joy Division-inspired post-punk as early editors, then job done. ‘Small Wars’ sees the band showcase an expansive, ambitious sound that combines sweeping, cinematic, stadium-filling production with insistent drums and a driving energy.

The first track, ‘Chemical’ surges in in full anthem mode, while ‘Small Wars’ and single cut ‘Alone’ reveal their more introspective side, while maintaining a solid groove and an unmistakable pop sensibility.

With a clear sense of drama and dynamics, this it’s serious music, for certain: it’s also immaculately realised and highly engaging.
