Review: 'Kolo'
'Do You Want to Rule the World?'

-  Album: 'Do You Want to Rule the World?' -  Label: 'LHM Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '25th September 2015'

Our Rating:
They may be influenced by what they consider ‘the storytelling of great British bands such as The Smiths and Stereophonics’ (two bands I never thought I’d see placed in the same bracket in any capacity), but if elements of the latter are discernible, ‘Do You Want to Rule the World?’ sounds equally like myriad other indie-rock acts with an ear for the epic. Tracks like ‘Andrea’ and ‘Mr Big Shot’ are more Elliot Minor than Morrissey and Marr, and elsewhere, the album calls to mind Lost Prophets and their ilk in its anthemic rock leanings.

There’s some positive energy here, but it’s all too standard and generic to really have much impact or resonance. If Kolo want to rule the world, they’re going to have to produce something a bit more memorable than this.
