Just as there’s barely a day goes by when I don’t hear a contemporary rock / metal release that doesn’t include some exhortation to ‘wake up!’, so every third release in the field features a track entitled ‘Eyes Wide Shut’. And so it is that Conduit’s long-player opens with a track bearing said title. You can pretty much guess the rest. And if not, then check out the cover art, or the band photos. Beards, moustaches – moustaches, I say! Side-partings, jumpers….Is this the face of contemporary rock? Bitch all you want about lazy journalism, but I’ve got better things to do than expend energy typing the obvious and subjecting myself to a grim sense of deja-vu. Life on repeat indeed.
