Review: 'ZEPHYR'
'An Odyssey For The Living EP'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Heavy Metal' -  Release Date: '9th October 2015'

Our Rating:
A zephyr, in another context, is a gentle, mild breeze but the London quartet of this name register a veritable gale force on their debut five track EP.

Their breathless take on the evolving Progressive Metalcore subgenre combines melody and mayhem with intricate riffs competing with Cameron Alexander Thomson's bestial growls. Gemini also has guest vocals by Julian Rodriguez of Elitist.

Little Lamplight sounds not so much like a love song as a desperate plea for understanding and recognition. Cloud Spires identifies itself as existing somewhere being the eye of the storm and the edge of reality.

This style of music makes few concessions to mainstream taste so will doubtless alienate more people than it attracts but I suspect that is the whole point.
