New Delhi-born Rivita has spent the last couple of years honing her style and establishing herself as a performer. She studied at the British Institute of Modern Music, and with ‘Silent Nights’ she shows she’s put all of this to good use.
‘Silent Nights’ is a sultry slice of smoky electro-pop with a slowed-down disco beat and subtly intertwines elements of ethnic music alongside some nagging motifs. It’s also hugely hooky, but equally enthralling is the depth of atmosphere the sparse production brings to the track. It’s far from a disposable bit of dance-pop: it’s intriguing and fresh and doesn’t sound quite like anything else around.
