'Dare to Dream Small'

-  Label: 'Red Grape Music Ltd'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '28th July 2017'

Our Rating:
If the title ‘Dare to Dream Small’ sounds like an inversion of the popular consensus that we should all ‘dream big’, the songs it contains certainly don’t indicate a lack of ambition. Hafis – who’s recorded vocals for Tricky, Lisbon Kid and Glastrophobie – clearly not only has ambition, but connections: among the album’s myriad co-writers feature names including Nik Kershaw and Boo Hewerdine.

The fact is, ‘Dare to Dream Small’ anything but an album about limitations, but a celebration of the small pleasures and joys in life. It’s a genuinely uplifting and heart-warming collection of songs, predominantly breezy acoustic-guitar led ditties about love and life. It’s not life-changing, but nor is it intended to be: ‘Dare to Dream Small’ is a charming, melodic and ultimately life-affirming collection of songs.
