Review: 'BOOK OF GIANTS'
'Y'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '1st Aoril 2018'

Our Rating:
Book of Giants are Marine des Mazery on vocals and Ricardo Silva on instrumental backing. The duo are based between Paris and Lisbon and this seven track EP (playing time 23 minutes) is their first official release.

The minimalist cover art and one word titles are indicators that they are not setting out to make bold or extravagant statements.

With influences including Portishead, the XX, Radiohead, Alt-J, and Cigarettes after Sex they describe their music as a "combination of a very unique female voice whispering delicate words in a landscape of organic harmonies of piano, bass and synths".

It's hard to pinpoint what any of the songs are about but snippets of lyrics about "empty emotions" (Unfinished) and of being "addicted to love" (Endeavour) suggest romantic entanglements lie at the heart of the compositions.

This is a record that, above all, rests its the intense atmosphere and this is modestly yet effectively created and ,while not mind blowing, leaves you curious to know what will come after the letter Y.
