So, the story goes that Leon Macauley (vocals) and Martin Bradford (rhythm guitar) decided to form a band in 2007 after seeing InMe play in Reading, but it wasn’t until 2013 that they properly got it together. And here we are: debut album time. Along with InMe, they cite Biffy Clyro and Foo Fighters as influences. And yes, they sound pretty much how you’d expect. Fist pumping choruses, lots of woooah-hooooah backing vocals and all the rest are assembled with precision to conjure accessible chunks melodic angst.
But if it is all a bit standard and formulaic, credit where it’s due, there are some nice guitar lines, and the lead and rhythm guitars compliment one another. It’s also well-played and well-produced: clean, but with enough punch to rock with conviction.
