I ask myself the question of whether I’m awake most days and find that regrettably, I am, and that the terrible nightmare I’m experiencing isn’t imaginary, it’s just life.
This four-track effort from alt-rock quintet Maven is less nightmare than melodic wallpaper which unrolls a bunch of big choruse and solid but uninspired riffs that combine to deliver something that’s pleasant and undeniably well-executed but ultimately unremarkable.
They cite bring Me the Horizon, Architects and Don Broco along their influences, and their bio s littered with the tribulations of lineup changes affecting their trajectory and I find I’m scratching to find a nugget of uniqueness in all this.
