Review: 'ROSE CITY BAND'
'Rose City Band'

-  Label: 'Thrill Jockey Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '17th January 2020'

Our Rating:
This eponymous seven-track debut album was produced by Ripley Johnson of Wooden Shjips / Moon Duo and seeks to capture the feeling of life in the Pacific Northwest albeit form a stoner's perspective.

Johnson describes how the album aims to function on a cosmic level "phasing in between the consciousness of now and the stoned dream-state of the eternal."

You can practically taste the spliff-fuelled atmosphere of the studio that feeds the heads and inspires this set of hazy folk songs that inevitably morph into spacey jams.

The trippy nature of the tunes means that, even if the band have a specific destination in mind, the band are in no great hurry to get there. The track title Wandering Feeling captures the go-with-the-flow mood perfectly.
